There are new venues every year. How do we judge one?
By what it supplies and what it has done, not by how it photographs. Ask how many weddings the space has hosted, whether the kitchen is a working one, what the electrical supply carries, where suppliers unload and what the end time is. A new venue can be excellent; a new venue learning on your wedding is a different proposition.
Is pollen season a real planning issue?
For outdoor spring weddings, mildly but genuinely. It is worth knowing when you choose an April date, and worth mentioning to your photographer and rental company rather than discovering on the day.

It turns the day into a weekend. Arrivals spread across Friday, people need a way to reach the venue, and the block should sit near the reception rather than near the airport. Publish the shuttle times with the invitation, and set them against the venue''s hard end time rather than the moment you hope things wind down.
What do museum and garden venues typically require?
Often a caterer from an approved list, restrictions on what may touch floors, walls or plantings, a fixed load-in door, insurance certificates and a firm end time because the building opens to the public. Ask for the house rules in full before signing. They are reasonable rules, but they shape the design more than couples expect.
How much planning help do we actually need?
It depends on how much of the day the venue supplies. A hotel or an all-inclusive venue with its own kitchen and floor plan needs coordination. A blank space, a garden or a farm needs someone from the rental stage onwards. Decide the scope from the venue rather than from a package name, then hire to it.
